Clinometer or Slope Measurer.
Patent for a new and improved clinometer. This design "is to provide a simple and inexpensive device for taking measurements in prismoidal formula and to avoid the calculation of the triangle and enable the slope to be readily written from the instrument" (lines 16-21). It "compris[es] the square composed of the stationary short bar or arm and the stationary long bar or arm rigidly secured to one side of the short arm or bar and provided on its face with a spirit-level and having a scale of graduations of which the length of the short bar or arm is the unit, the curved brace connecting the said parts" (lines 60-68).
Conflagration Arrester.
Patent for a new and improved conflagration arrester. This design "is to provide a device by which the sides of a building adjacent to other buildings on fire may be protected by a uniform continuous sheet of water covering the sides of such building" (lines 9-13). It consists in "the combination of a series of inclined arms provided with eyes at their outer ends and having hooks to engage the side of a building, a shelf or deflector, and a rod so connecting the latter pivotally with the eyes of the inclined arms that the upper part of said shelf shall overbalance the lower part, which shall . . . rest against the wall" (lines 89-97).
Automatic Band-Brake for Railway-Cars
Patent for "a brake of simple and inexpensive construction, that may be readily attached to steam or tramway cars, that is automatic in its working, and to do away with the brake-beams now employed, which through their breaking down are two-thirds of the causes of car derailments" (lines 19-26).
Combined Cotton and Corn Planter.
Patent for a combined cotton and corn planter by having two wheel guards and graduators, one feed-wheel is mounted fixedly on the shaft, the other is removable; so that it can be easily converted from planting corn or cotton-seed, and vice versa, and regulating the planting of either. Construction of Privy-Vaults.
Patent for an improvement of privy-vaults using a soil-pipe with sleeve adapted to be connected with the trap-door of the vault-floor into an air-chamber where a ventilating-pipe is placed directly above a furnace; the noxious gases along with the products of combustion in the furnace would be drawn from the air-chamber and carried off to the outer air. Illustration is included.
Corn-Planter.
Patent for an improvement of a corn-planter using a combinations of, a rotary seed plate that has a circumferential series of perforations, a spherical weight or ball acts as ejector, and a hopper that has a circular opening on the bottom to work together “to prevent too large quantities of seed from entering the seed-cups, but which shall also serve to forcibly eject the seeds at the proper time” (lines 19-22), illustration is included.
Bottle-Case.
Patent for a bottle holding case using wires to encircle the inner groove of the case as re-enforcement, then use metal bands or wires woven around the encircling wires; these metal bands or wires would then wove around the necks and bodies of the bottles to secure the bottles inside the case. Churn-Dasher.
Patent for an improvement in a churn-dasher by constructing the head of a dasher with a series of spirally-slanting blades, the front and rear edges are curved inward forming vertical openings with lancet-shaped ends. So that it would meet with less resistance when churning with the upward stroke.
Apparatus for Baling Cotton.
Patent for a cotton baling machine in which, it would provide a mechanism for baling the fiber in packages, for the ease of transporting and handling; and to prevent the loss of cotton or fiber in transporting from the gin to the baling-press. Illustration is included.
Bottle-Filling Machine.
Patent for a bottle-filling machine in which "a number of bottles of equal capacity may be simultaneously filled from a common reservoir by the single movement of a lever" (lines 13-16), illustration is included.
Churn.
Patent for an improvement in churn by using a combination of a sliding bar, a cord secured to the dasher-shaft, and vertical rods to create a mechanical movement that would wind and unwind the cord in order to operate the churn. Illustration is included.

Patent for an improved animal trap for “catching small animals in a trap which will be ever set and in operative position for catching an animal and which will be automatically reset” (lines 10-13), illustration is included.

Patent for an improved apparatus for scouring water-ways by using water-discharge pipes and air-discharge pipes arranged at each side of the vessel. When “vessel is slowly moved forward while the water and air forcing pumps are working,..... direct force of the water-jets and air-jets will agitate and scatter and lift the dislodged particles and float them much higher and longer than would be the case were the water-jet pipes alone used.” (Lines 63-75) Illustration is included.

Patent for improvements in animal-traps that would be capable of catching two animals; to set the trap, bait is placed upon the hooked ends of the bait-hooks, the jaws are elevated and retained in a position by the link-catches, which have the lower hooked ends engaging the trigger, which has its free end engaging the eye at the inner end of the bait hooks, thus setting the trap, (lines 66-73) ready to catch animals. Patent for improvements in balance-staffs for watches by “strengthen and increase the durability of the pivots or journals of the staff while reducing the friction to a minimum” (lines 16-19), included illustration.
Adding-Machine.
Patent for am adding machine by using two disks, one a units-disk with pins in multiples of ten, one a tens-disk, is an annular disk with pin surrounding the units disk, an outwardly spring-pressed holder having a beveled outer end frictionally engaging the pins of the tens-disk and a carrier having oppositely-beveled ends engaged a supplemental pin and one pin on the tens-disks, teeth in the adjacent faces of the holder and carrier, and an idle-gear between them to enable the adding operation. Cotton-Chopper.
Patent for improvements in cotton-choppers by using a crown-wheel attached to one of the ground-wheels of the chopper. When the ground wheels impart motion to the crown wheel, which in turn communicates motion to the pinions of the shaft. This shaft drives the two sprocket-wheels; the sprocket wheel that located in the rear portions of the crank-shaft imparts motion to the crank-shaft, which drives the vertical choppers. Automatic Track Sweeping and Oiling Attachment for Street-Cars.
Patent for improvements in automatic track sweeping and oiling attachments to street cars by having a transverse shaft carries a hub which has a series of brushes. When “the street car moves forward, the brushes on the transverse shaft are revolved, which sweep the rails and keep them clean.” (Lines 90-93) Illustration is included.

Patent for improvement in stalk-choppers particularly adapted for chopping cotton. When the chopper is started the sprocket upon one of the traveling wheels will impart motion to the sprocket through the medium of the sprocket-chain, which will rotate the gear-wheel and in turn the pinion and the crank will impart a reciprocatory motion to the pitman and the horizontal bar, this will give the cutter-blade a reciprocatory motion. The speed of the reciprocatory chopping blade can be regulated. (Lines 45-55) Illustration is included.
