This design "is to provide means whereby the wear due to the rubbing of inclosed rods or ropes against an inclosing casing may be reduced to a minimum and whereby the central alignment of the rods or ropes with respect to the inclosing casing may be accurately preserved" (lines 11-17). This design consists "[i]n a reading and writing attachment for chairs, the combination of a bail-shaped clamp adapted to be applied to a chair-arm, an upright slotted arm, a set-screw passing through said slotted arm and engaging the clamp, a plate carried by the upper end of said slotted arm, and a table pivotally connected to said plate, whereby the table may be adjusted vertically, horizontally, and obliquely" (lines 66-75).
Patent for "an exceedingly rapid baling of the hay, to provide for the easy transportation of the press and the power employed in connection therewith, and to provide for the adjustment of the size of the baling-chamber" (lines 9-13).

Patent for "a simple, safe, and practical coupling for cars, arranged to couple at one time as many cars as may be desired, and to operate automatically so as to avoid all necessity of going between the cars, and adapted to use the ordinary link and to couple with cars having a higher or lower draw bar than itself." Patent for "an improvement in cartridge-loaders adapted to load cartridge shells automatically, the machine being operated by suitable power. Patent for a new and improved clothing-boiler. This design is to "provide a device of this character in which there is practically no danger of the water or suds-boiling over to the exterior" (line 8 - 11).
Patent for a combined harrow and cultivator that can easily change between the two. It consists of a beam with front and back removable tooth-seats, handles, adjusting holes in the beam, a perforated plate on the top and bottom sides of the beam, pins, and a wedge-shaped key between the bar and a slot in a tooth.
Patent for a "combined steam superheater apparatus and engine driven thereby, which in turn is utilized to automatically shift the steam feeding and cut off devices, and such invention primarily has for its object to provide a combined mechanism of this character which will effectively operate for its intended purposes" (lines 7-14). Patent for an electric railway conduit that is more efficient and durable. It has "guides for the traveling switch, one of said guides being a continuous one and the other a sectional one, one being insulated from the conduit and the other guide-strip (lines 16-20). The traveling switch moves in the conduit and on the sides of the guides. Only one section of the conduit is live at once, the one that a car is passing over.
Patent for a new and improved feed apparatus for locomotives. This design is "for feeding the boiler of a locomotive-engine wherein a feed-pipe extends from a tank or tender to an injector a conical strainer is located in the three-way valve-casing for intercepting dirt, leaves, and foreign matter, to prevent the same passing with the feed-water to the boiler" (lines 9-15). It consists, "with a valve-casing containing a valve and having pipes or tubes for connecting, respectively, with a tank or tender and an injector or boiler, [and] of a strainer having steam-jet orifices arranged round its base" (lines 69-73).
Patent for a feed-water heater for steam-boilers. It provides "such a heater having an arrangement of distributing-troughs located in such a manner as to evenly distribute the water over tubes in thin streams or a thin sheet, whereby it may be quickly heated, and, furthermore, in so constructing the parts that the interior portions comprising the circulating tubes and troughs may be easily removed for the purpose of cleaning" (lines 10-18).
Patent for a new and improved frame for mosquito canopies. This design consists in "the combination, with the fixed standards and the forwardly-projecting bearings, of the braces pivoted to [the] bearings and united by cross-bar, the short arms pivoted to the upper ends of the fixed standards, and parallel side-bars connected by cross-bars to form a rectangular frame to support the canopy or curtain and pivoted intermediate, respectively, in the outer ends of the short arms and brace" (lines 22-31).
