The last person, standing at the far-right side of the photo, is playing a bass with his hands and wears a cowboy hat, shades, long-sleeved shirt, and jeans. Behind the band, various instruments including guitars and a violin line the wall at the back of the stage along with amps and speakers that have beer cans sitting atop them. A group of people shaded by a thatched overhang watch the band from behind the top of the wall at the stage's back, in the left side of the photo. A sign near the top right corner has words that are mostly unreadable due to cropping, though "Ask an" and "Official" are clearly visible.

On either side of the entire circle are the dates 1836, on the left, and 1986, on the right. Grass grows in clumps around the base of the stone pile and the cross. To the right cross, two or three feet back, is a small wooden object resembling a stool or backless chair. The barbed wire topped fence sits behind this object, spanning the width of the photo and decorated with small objects including flowers, cloth scraps, and a square pendant. Three couples stand next to one another while two boys kneel on the ground in front of them and a young woman sits with a little girl on her lap. Next to the young woman is a bottle in a cozy while behind her sits two large rocks. Behind the entire group of people is a tall board painted with volcanic scenery and a flying creature, possibly a pterodactyl. An upright armadillo statue sits to the right of the board, a fallen sign laying at its feet with the text "Lone Star", possibly followed by "Lava", written on it. To the left of the painted board is a table with a checker-patterned tablecloth and various objects on it. A sign on the table reads "Chris 00 Chili" and "Rebel Roulette". Behind the table stands a man with a button-decorated vest, short-sleeved shirt, pants, and a cowboy hat, who is manipulating an object behind the table's sign. To the left of the table is a small cooler. In the background a stone wall rises above the man and the costumed people, with two flags on its side that each have circles containing motifs on them. Across the top of the wall is a group of people in regular modern clothing, sitting on wall's edge or on a short wall that runs along the taller wall's top. A cut-out of the same winged creature from the painted board sits on the top of the wall in the right side of the photo.

A person sits curled upright near the bottom right corner of the photo. On the tall stone wall behind the man posing are two flags hung vertically, with the left one being lighter with a crest labeled "County of Fairfax Virginia" and "1742" while the second flag is darker and illustrated with a robed figure standing over a fallen person labelled "Virginia" and "Sic semper tyrannis".
