Exchange Bank was the first building constructed in the complex in 1956, followed by the Braniff Airways headquarters in 1958. William Blakley opened Exchange Park by transforming the one-hundred and twenty acres near Harry Hines Boulevard and Mockingbird Lane into the commercial development landscaped as a park. This photograph was commissioned by client Neiman-Marcus.

At the right end of the building is an open-air space recessed into the structure, forming the building's entrance and containing its front doors. Piles of wood and other objects fill the area in front of the doors. To the right of the building are signs, one of which says "3631 Cedar Springs" while another has the word "architect" on it. A patch of dirt dotted with small clumps of grass and pieces of rubble extends across the front of the building, a sidewalk running through its center. Leafless trees grow in the dirt between the sidewalk and the building while poles holding up electrical lines sit between the sidewalk and a line of parked cars.
