From left: Tom Harpool (North Texas State Teachers College 1939), President of the North Texas State University Alumni Association; Joe Greene (North Texas State University 1966-1969); Dr. Chester A. Newland (North Texas State College 1954); and Larry Jobe (North Texas State College 1961). At the luncheon, Greene, Newland, and Jobe were each awarded the Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Citation. At the time this photograph was taken, former North Texas football player Greene was a left tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and had just won AFC Champ, been part of the winning team in Superbowl IX, been in his 5th consecutive Pro Bowl, and had been named NFL Defensive Player of the Year for the second time. Dr. Newland, former director of the LBJ Library, was Executive Director of the Federal Executive Institute. Mr. Jobe had been Assistant for Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, and was a managing partner of Alexander Grand & Co.
