This is a letter from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is written by Moore to Patty Brown. He also writes about family, the health of family and friends. He talks about fabric for new pants and vest. He has new orders to move to Pine Bluff.

He also writes about the latest news in regards to the secession of South Carolina, Andrew Johnson's speech on the subject in the Senate, and the probability that Tennessee will also secede. The letter was written over two days, January 2nd and 5th. There is an envelope addressed to C. B. Moore in Parris, Lamar County, Texas. According to the note written at the bottom left corner, the letter was received on January 29, 1861.
