While housing was the first priority, the construction of sanitary water and sewer lines are also serving the project as well. The Hamilton subdivision project is named in memory of R.T. Hamilton, a physician whose motivation was to improve the Black communities in Dallas.

There are five, small, separate companies currently that are not as productive as one large taxi service, and the Dallas Utilities supervisor does not know what to do how to fix the poor service on the taxi service among Black people. In order to improve the service, it will start with bettering the distribution and dispatching system with a fully-equipped radio in cabs that run around predominantly Black areas.

The project, sponsored by the Dallas Citizens' Interracial Association, is also planning to create an extension of the water and sanitary sewer lines to the area. The contracts for the new sewer lines were signed by the association's president, Jerome Crossman, who has also signed a contract with the Associated Construct Company, is also acting as an independent contractor for the construction of the new homes.
