The National Museum of the Pacific War presents and oral interview with Charles Liapes. Liapes was born in Newburg, New York 27 November 1921. Five of his brothers were in the service during World War II. Three were wounded and all returned home. In November 1942, Liapes volunteered for the Army and went to Fort McClelland for basic training.
