Description: The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with Charles Engel. Engel joined the Navy in December of 1939. He served aboard the USS Zane (DMS-14) as Chief Signalman. Engel was aboard the Zane on 7 December 1941 in Pearl Harbor. At 7:55am he heard the planes and identified the marks on Japanese planes.
