Photograph of American troops on parade through downtown Austin. The soldiers are riding in the back of 6x6 "deuce and a halfs" (CCKW350) which are towing 105mm howitzer cannons. The unit is probably part of either the 36th Infantry Division or the 2nd Infantry Division.

Photograph of a wooden arch hangar at Robert Mueller Airport, built summer 1943. Writing on the back of the photograph reads: "The glued, laminated wood arches were built onsite. The curve was formed to templates laid out on the floor and constructed of 1" X 10" yellow pine plank. They were bolted together at the center and hoisted in place to receive the roof joists. Built by J.M. Odom Construction Co. Work supervised by Charles Morton, chief estimator."

The name "Pan American Recreation Center" was chosen by the executive committee during a center naming contest. On September 7, 1956, a new Pan American Recreation Center was formally dedicated at 2100 East 3rd Street, just west of the old location and where it currently exists today. The building adjoins Zavala School and was built at a cost of $155,261. The Hillside Theater was later built and completed in June 1958.
