Description: This document is a message to the legislature of Texas from Governor T.M. Campbell. The purpose of the message was to get the legislature prepared to discuss laws concerning: simplification of court proceedings in the state of Texas, making telephone companies transmit other telephone companies messages, fair and lawful taxing of its citizens, increase business fees of both domestic and foreign businesses, and any other matters relating to the Constitution of Texas.

Description: 1835 letter of Col. Nicholas Copeland to his son-in-law Martin Bridgman of Arkansas, enticing him to move to Texas. The letter discusses the price of land and cattle, as well as the profitability of crops such as cotton and corn. Copeland adds a note for Harry Currin, a free African-American, stating that Texas is a safe place to settle. Staff member, Leslie Couture went outside and took the photograph from the Festival Bridge on the southeast corner behind the library. The water came up to her knees while she was walking towards the bridge. That is how much the water had crested the banks of the creek.

Description: This photograph was taken just after a flash flood that occurred on April 24, 2007. The rain stopped shortly after 5 p.m. Library assistant, Leslie Couture, went outside and took photos of Oakland Street from the staff entrance on the west side of the building. While the water did not breach the building, it did come within six feet of the door.

In matter of relations between Absentee Shawnee and Potawatomi Indians, their removal to Kansas on thirty-square mile tract in Indian Territory, and the Potawatomi to purchase 160 acres for each head of family and Shawnee to have theirs as a gift.
