Description: Transcript of an oral interview with Gordon L. Schaefer. Born in 1924, he was drafted into the Army in 1943. He talks about basic training at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. He shares an anecdote about witnessing an encounter between a bus driver and an African American soldier. He was transported to England aboard the SS Argentina in June, 1944.
