Lamar County Paris Texas
Photograph of the apartment building on South Main street that is across the street from the Gibraltar Hotel. The buildings are on the corners of Austin Avenue. Both of these buildings were built with re-enforced concrete and brick. As with the First National Bank building they were built just before the 1916 fire and were burned out and the structure survived.

Paris Texas IOOF Building
Photograph of the rebuilt IOOF Building,1stSW Street and Grand Avenue on the southwest corner of Fountain Square in downtown Paris,Texas. This building was "gutted" by the 1916 fire. This building has dual dates in the date medallion on the east side, First SW Street, indicating a history back to 1851. The IOOF Lodge entrance is at ground level and bears a date of 1921, after the 1916 fire. The building IOOF building due to the non-operative IOOF sign above the front corner. As is today the building reflects typical Classic Revival style of commercial buildings of the period.
IOOF Building in Paris

On the brick building "cap", there is a a white stone insert with a dual date: "1851 + 1916". Another white stone insert above one entrance says "Wildey Lodge No. 21, I.O.O.F." In early photos, this building was mostly standing but gutted by the 1916 fire and the date medallion reflects the building's continuity.
