Description: Photograph of African-American band at Emancipation Day celebration, June 19, 1900, held in "East Woods" on East 24th Street in Austin. Mrs. Grace Murray Stephenson kept a diary of the day's events, which she later sold to the San Francisco Chronicle, which wrote a full-page feature on it.

Description: Photograph of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt standing behind a podium, on a platform, at the end of a train car as he addresses the large, night-time crowd assembled before him. His outstretched arms grasp the podium. Roosevelt is surrounded by a group of people including his wife, Eleanor, and possibly John Nance Garner ("Cactus Jack"), the vice-president. A neon sign above the train car reads, "PROSPERITY'S ROSE BLOOMS AGAIN WITH ROOSEVELT." The crowd is standing shoulder-to-shoulder.

Wooden Arch Hangar at Robert Mueller Airport

Description: Photograph of a wooden arch hangar at Robert Mueller Airport, built summer 1943. Writing on the back of the photograph reads: "The glued, laminated wood arches were built onsite. The curve was formed to templates laid out on the floor and constructed of 1" X 10" yellow pine plank. They were bolted together at the center and hoisted in place to receive the roof joists. Built by J.M. Odom Construction Co. Work supervised by Charles Morton, chief estimator."

"Sweetheart" Pan American Invitational Softball Tournament

Description: Photograph of Pan American Recreation Center's "Sweetheart" for their Invitational Softball Tournament with the trophies. The Pan American Recreation Center was opened in June 1942 as the first Latin American Recreation Center in Austin and run under the auspices of the Federated Latin American Club and directed by the Austin Recreation Department.
