School Trustees Organize
The colored school trustees ot
Marion county met Jan 27th and
organizes by electing F C John-
son chairman F S Azie sec and
Paul Matbie treas Each one ex-
pressed his opinion to the Welfare
and betterment of the schools and
suggested plans by which to repair
school houses especially those of
tho rural district We hope every
trustee of the county will be pres-
ent at tho next meetingand others
who are interested in the education
and citizenship of the colored man
of this county As a trustee there
is more for us to do besides signing
contracts and vouchers for teachers
I think our duty as trustees is to
visit the houses of the none send-
ers to the public free schools and
insist on tho paitnts to send their
children to school that they may
make of themslves model citizens
if nothing more It is hard should
we loose our little homes and prop-
erty but what is that to compare
with loosing one of our children
under the cloud of ignoranc and
disgrace
We take notice of the 91 cases
that was brought to the grand jury
in our last district court with 95
per cent was charged to the law-
less colored men and we must bet
ter our status as citizens So in
these trustee meetings a deal of
good can be done along that line
The next meeting will be held
March 10th F S Azin
