transfer to Austin this week-
end wheie she will* receive six

Estes' Trial
Dale Announced
Tyler. July 31 I/P) — District
Judge Otis Dunagan today set
the Billie Sol Estes trial for
Sept. 24th.
The trial will he held in 7th
District Court at Tyler. Estes
is charged with four counts
of theft by fraud. The district
judge at Pecos, where Estes
was charged, moved the trial
to Tyler over objections of
both the state and defense at-
torneys.
Mils. David Levine was a
business visitor in Dallas Tues-
day.
Mrs. Claude Milligan was in
Mt. Pleasant Sunday for a visit
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Morris. .
Mrs. Ray Hanna visited her
mother, Mrs. L. C. Groce in Mt.
Pleasant Sunday.

Pound Workers
To Face Probe
San Antonio, July 31 (jfl —
Three San Antonio dog pound j
workers have been suspended
with pay pending the outcome
of an investigation into the
disappearance of two Dalma-
tions.
They are the pound master,
Banjamin Baird, and Marcello
Salazar and Adolph Trevino.
The San Antonio city person-
nel director, Clyde MeCollough,
said the three were questioned
last week about the disappear-
ance of the dogs, which belong-
ed to Mr. end Mrs. Frank
Muegge. The dogs have since
been returned to the Mueggcs.
Records at the pound show
the female Dalmation was de-
stroyed June 28th. However, a
woman returned the dog to the
pound later, saying she found
it in a park.
The male Dalmation was
found in Bracketville. The own-
ers said they were told by
pound employes that the ani-
mals had not been in the
pound.

Dallas, July 31 I/Pi — The
Democratic candidate for gov-
ernor of Texas says he believes
if he is elected he can hasten
the day that barges may navi-
gate the Trinity River.
John Connally told a meet-
ing in Dallas that.,the influence
of the governor’s office could
be used in pushing for develop-
ment of the Trinity River as a
navigable stream. The,candidate
told Texas Water Conservation
Association members they
should back an amendment to
the state constitution that
would permit the state to buy
water storage in reservoirs
builtiby local or federal agen-
cies. The proposed amendment
is up for a vote in the Novem-
ber general election. Conna!-
