The State of Texas to the Sheriff of Victoria
County Greeting:
WHEREAS Charles Vinzant of the county
of Rusk and state aforesaid has filed his
petition in this office against Fielding Jones of
Victoria county and William Patterson praying
m decree requiring the said defendants to recou-
ey in fee simple to the said plaintiff Vinzant
certain property situated in the county and town
of Victoria which said property was sold by
virtue of an Execution issued from said Court
against tho estate of said Vinzant upon a judg-
ment in favor of Walton & Kemp for the use
of J. G. Gaines of the State of Louisiana: And
it appearing from the petition and affidavit filed
ia said cause that the said defendant Patterson
is new absent from and a norT resident of the
State of Texas: These are therefore to com-
mand you to cito the said defendant Patterson
by publishing this writ in the Texian Advocate
eif-fat weeks to be and appear at the Hon.
District Court to be holdcn in and for said
County of Victoria at the Court House thereof
B the Town of Victoria on the second Monday
after the first Monday in March next there to
aaswer the allegations and interrogatories con-
tained in Plaintiff's bill or failing so to appear
and answer eo far as he the said Patterson is
concerned said bill will be heard ex parte.

from tho Government of Texas and Di-
rector General of the Texas Colonization com-
pany formed at Antwerp cives notice that on
Sunday the 25th Oct. tho first division of half
and quarter sections comprising No. 1 to 5.t
was drawn at Castrovillc having a right there-
to. That every Sunday a certain number of lots
will be drawn and that all emigrants holders
of contracts and others have a rare opportunity
of obtaining half sections for Families and
quarter sections for unmarried men by early
application to the subscriber.
