in order to arriveat this end a cheap and
afe channel of commercial intercommuni-
cation mtut be opened hrlwcen the tvto
points. A bare inspection of the map of
Texas -would go tar to Batisty tne observer
that the loute by tho town of Liverpool
the larger portion of which is already ac-
complished by the band of natnre leaving
only IG miles" of land carriage possesses
advantages superior to any other yet offer-
ed to public attention-
The locality of Liverpool has long beca
considered perfectly healthy and abounds
with copious and delicious springs of wat-
er within the actual limits of tbo town.
A steam boat will run weekly between Liv-
er pool aud Galvoston "and a team boat
is also building for that trade.
In addition to ttio advantages mentioned
abovo the town tract as well as a largo
body .of land adjoining abounds in largo
pine cedar and white oak timber and a
large saw and grist mill is now in operation
within the limits of tho town.
Tho town has been laid off in a tract of
about 740 acres of land fronting exceed-
ing one milo on the bayou and the same
distance on the prairie and Is divided into
thirty-two shares which are offered forsale
on rensonablo terms.
A survoy of the Bayou and Chocolato
Bay has lately beeu made by Mr. William
n. Hunt who confirms the report made
by Col. Harconrt and reports two good'
channelsone running to the West and
tho other to the East end of Galveston.

THE town ofLafaye'c is situated
on the East bank of the Colorado river
about thirty or forty miles above the
city of Austin the new scat of govern-
ment and opposite the mouth of the
Sap Saba. The land (one third of a
league) is the head right of the under-

Resolved That the corporation tax
for tho year 1830 be levied and col-
lected at 2 per cent on real estato ami
ono half per cent on personal property;
that each establishment for retailing;
spirituous liquors pay So0 for a li-
cense ; and each billiard table S"9;
and that a poll tax of So be levied and
collected on each free male inhabitant
oer the age of 21 years.
Resolved That all n;tailer of spir-
ituous liquors within the limits of this
Corporation shall be and t!iry'are
hereby prohibited from soiling spiritu-
ous liquors to any slave unless by per-
mission of his or her master or m:s.

each and every violation of this resolu-
tion; one half of which shall go to the
informer and the other half to the uso
of the corporation.
Resolved That therp shall be levied
and collected from each and rvrry ow-
ner ofa dog kept'within the limits of-
this corporation a tax of S2 for eatih
and every dog he or they may own.
Resolved That hereafter no mousy
shall be drawn lrom the treasury ex-
cept by appropriations made by th
Board of Aldermen.
Resolved That the manner of draw-
ing drafts on the treasurer shall he as
fol low? viz : The draft shall be payas
hie cut of tho money which shall bo
appropriated by the Board for the pay-
ment of the specified object which tho
draft is intended to pay and it shall bo
signed hv the Mavnr and countersigned
by a majority of the committee und-r
whose superintendence the debt de-
signed to be paid has been contracted.
