2PREFACE
This Sixty-Fifth Annual Report on the Texas Judicial System contains informa-
tion on the basic structure and organization of the Texas Judiciary; detailed reports,
summaries and analyses of the activities of the various levels of courts comprising
the judicial system; reports on the activities of judicial agencies as required by law;
and directories of judges and clerks.
It presents the court activity of the 3,024 state, county, justice of the peace, and
municipal courts in the State of Texas. It is intended to inform the general public and
the legislative and executive branches of state government of the accomplishments
of the judicial branch during the period of September 1, 1992 through August 31,
1993.
This report was prepared by the staff of the state Office of Court Administration
and is submitted under the auspices of the Texas Judicial Council, pursuant to the
statutory duty of the Council:
The council continuously shall study the organiza-
tion, rules, procedures and practice, work accomplished,
results, and uniformity of the discretionary powers of the
state courts and methods for their improvement.
(Section 71.031, Tex. Gov't Code)
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Acknowledgement and appreciation are extended to the many judges and
clerks of the courts who have so promptly submitted the monthly reports on court
operations. Without their efforts, this report would not be possible and the citizens
of the state would be deprived of necessary information on the activities of the
judicial branch of government. We particularly wish to recognize the interest and
support of the justices, judges, and clerks of the 'appellate courts, the judges and
clerks of all levels of trial courts, and the presiding judges of the nine administrative
judicial regions in this regard.
Special acknowledgement is extended to Hon. Joe Spurlock II, President, and
the members of the Texas Judicial Council for their continuing aid and support.
C: Raymond Judice
