The next witness was Robert Flowers, assistant attorney general. Since there
had just been testimony about the Tom Cook, Jr. -Major Kennedy Lease, he was
asked which directional engineer performed the original directional survey on that
well. He stated that Hearne Directional Drilling Company of Houston filed a directional
survey verified under oath by E. D. Hearne indicating the maximum inclination
on that well to be 1-3/4 . On June 5, 1962, an Eastman survey conducted
in conjunction with this investigation indicated the well had been angled 53 and
kicked a distance of 2,715 feet.
He was asked about the Kern Directional Drilling Company which had filed
a directional survey on the L. W. Powell Lease. The affidavit to that survey was
signed by E. D. Hearne, St. on July 23, 1954 indicating an inclination of 3 . The
current Eastman Survey showed an inclination of 33 .
He was asked about Drilling Control of Box 347, Broussard, Louisiana. He
had visited Broussard but found no trace of any company by that name. A directional
survey performed by Drilling Control, filed with the Railroad Commission by
