A. No, sir, I have not seen that.
Q. Judge, I hand you a check here from Robert V, Jobe
in care of J. W. Tyner, payable to E. W. Scates in
the amount of $5e 14, which a notation "July operation,
Fisher Lease. " Do you know anything about that?
A. No, sir, I think I have seen that name somewhere before.
I think it was on the billing, but I don't know.
Q. If you jwill look here, there is another one on E. W.
Scates, $5.07, Robert V. Jobe, "August Operation,
Fisher Lease."
A. Yes, sir.
Q. You don't know Robert V. Jobe, who he is?
A. No, sir.
He was asked by Representative Hollowell:
A. Getting back to the statement I made to you a moment
ago about the Committee's concern about any public
official that might be involved directly or indirectly
in this thing, we are certainly not unaware of the
embarrassment that you have been caused by coming
before this Committee, and I know that every member
of this Committee would like to see if you are innocent
that you are completely exonerated in the public eye.
I don't have any way to do that other than one which I
am fixing to suggest to you. When this thing broke in
Austin, Commissioner Murray and several employees
of the Railroad Commission volunteered to take the lie
detector test. Would you be willing to sign a waiver
and take that test, Judge?
A. I don't know what you are talking about, you mean me
take a lie detector test?
Q. Yes.
A. Yes, I'd consider it.
Q. If I were in your position, I would want to take it.
They couldn't strap it on me fast enough. Would
you sign a waiver and take that test?
A. Well, I will certainly consider it. I won't make a
statement here right now one way or not to, but I
will certainly consider it.
Q. Are you aware, sir, that recently the Supreme Court of
Arizona ruled that the lie detector test is admissible in
evidence?
A. Noi I hadn't read that, but I am glad to see it.
Q. Yes, sir. If agreed to by the state and by the defendant.
A. I am glad to see it come in. I think it is about time.-25
