Amtex Oil Co. was associated with R. C. Brin, trustee for Nelson Decker in
each of these leases. RRC Form 7 filed under oath designated the owne-rs of Amtex
to be: Carter-Jones Drilling Co., J. L. Gulley, Jr., Raymond Hedge, A. E. McCubbin,
J. L. Patton, Rex Stegall and Go U. Yoachum.
Ranger Jim Ray described his interview with Decker as follows:
Well during this interview Mr. Decker was very angry
and upset and he stated he was for the independent oil
men and if it ever came to it, he would be willing to
testify in court for them. He stated he could see no
reason why the Rangers and Department of Public Safety
was even called into this investigation. He also stated
that he had taken no cash from anyone for any favors that
he had granted them, but he had received gifts of oil
interests from people, from some of the oil operators.
He declined to name any of the oil interests and also
declined to submit to a polygraph test until he could talk
to his attorney. During this interview he kept stating
that everyone in the Kilgore district office had been

known that this thing was going on for some time. . .

informed them of this activity that was going on in the
East Texas oil field. I asked him if he had ever written
a letter of any kind or other to the Railroad Commission
in Austin advising them of this, and he said that he had
not; that he had talked with the chief engineer in Austin
about this some four of five years previous and he had
told the chief engineer that if they didn't do something about
it that there would be a whole new east side oil field in the
East Texas oil field. We also discussed briefly his oil
interests. He admitted that he had had an interest with
the Amtex Oil Co. , and that that--in fact, when the Amtex
Oil Co., was formed in 1960, that I believe Mr. Yoachum
and probably--I believe it was Mr. Maxwell, he told me had
cut him in for a small interest in these pieces because he was
an old-time employee with the Railroad Commission and that
they knew he would give them a fair shake before the Railroad
Commission.
During this conversation that Mr. Decker and I had, he also
admitted that the interest that he owned was in his wife's
sister's name, Mrs. R. C. Brin, who lived here in Dallas...-19
