pocketbook, Stetson re-entered the room looking elated.
Due to advance information, he announced he had
just taken from the Exchange for his Company, $20,000.00.
Preparatory to leaving again, he turned to me
and said: "I will have to go back to the Exchange to
finish the day's work. My brother, you refused to
accept the $100.00 reward which I offered you for finding
my pocketbook. Would you mind my placing that
money on the market and would you accept what money

hotel, but before leaving Stetson made an appointment
to see me the following morning, saying he had
a proposition to make. I agreed to see him at the appointed
time.
After reaching our hotel, Spencer and I went to our
room where he showed me his wardrobe which contained
several suits of clothes, several pairs of shoes, and a
large assortment of other expensive wearing apparel.
He explained that as he was on the road all the time for
his company, it was necessary to carry these things. He
next showed me his credentials which he carried in a
suitcase together with a large number of Deeds, Contracts,
Releases, Abstracts and various documents, all
pertaining to land deals. He showed me a compiled,
typewritten and tabulated report of his year's business.
He pointed out different deals on which he had made
