Recycle junk and swap stuff Saturday
Dispose of all your electronics and
computer equipment properly, and for
free, at Keep Port Aransas Beautiful’s
Recycles Day.
Collection is scheduled for Saturday,
Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Fred
Rhodes Memorial Pavilion in Roberts
Point Park.
The annual event features a plant
swap, book swap, eyeglasses, cell phone
and electronics recycling.
Plants and books may be swapped.
Plants do not have to be potted, but if
they are, writing the name of the plant
on the pot is helpful.
Eyeglasses will be donated to the
Lion’s Club for re-use.
Cell phones and printer cartridges will
be recycled and proceeds will go to the
Port Aransas Animal Shelter.
The event is co-sponsored by KPAB,
the City of Port Aransas Parks and
Recreation Department and Goodwill
Industries/Dell Reconnect.

All about the ARK
Friends of the ARK raised about
$14,500 for the Animal Rehabilita-
tion Keep, or ARK, at the Fall for
the Ark event on Saturday, Nov. 7,
at the Civic Center. The take was
down “significantly” from previous
ARK fundraisers, probably due to
the economy, according to Lee
Harrison, a director of Friends of
the Ark. Clockwise, from above: A
crowd listens to a speaker; ARK
Director Tony Amos addresses
the audience; and folks write out
bids in a silent auction.
