It has been proven by actual experiments that the elevated ground
upon which the city stands, extending for many miles in its vicinity
is exceedingly fertile in the production of sugar cane, cotton and
grain, and is admirably adapted to vegetable gardens. Several

The port of Anihuic, (now the city of Chambersia,) has been
highly spoken of as a place destinedno become a great commercial
city by most of the writers upon the history and geographj of Tex-

the Gulf of Mexico, and a custom house and fortification on an ex-

sail navigation on the bay and at the mouth of the most navigable

As a considerable interest in the city has Jatel) been purchased by
several enterprising individuals, who will shortly become settlers,
and as great advantages will bo enjojed by a'largeportionof the
first tettlers in ihe privilege of selecting choice lot', and by all in ob

from the propnetor, Geiu T. Jefferson Chambers, who h?s owned
