1st Annual
TEXAS HERITAGE CELEBRATION
To celebrate a Texas past and plan for a Texas future, the Texas Historical Foundation is sponsoring a celebration which will
help ensure a continuous link in the minds of current Texans between what has gone before and what is still to come. The
celebration which will be held in Austin June 14, 15, and 16, 1985 has been endorsed by Governor Mark White, and Austin
Mayor Ron Mullen. Historic displays will be made available by the Texas Historical Commission, the Texas Archaeology
Commission, the Texas Foundation for Women's Resources, statewide museums, antique clubs and others.
Events will include both entertainment and a variety of contests geared for amateur participants. Appropriate food and
beverages representing the state's ethnic heritage will be available.
Like the quality county fairs of yesteryear, the celebration will involve events which promote participation, friendly competition,
camaraderie and fun in the spirit of cooperation which enabled past Texans to survive the hardships of founding the
nation's greatest state.
