72 ABILENE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE
EXPRESSION
MRS. BURKE
It has been said that, "Our colleges have not yet placed public
speaking on the basis that it deserves. But some day teachers of
literature and of theology will come to see that the best interpretation
is that of the reader." The study of Expression is the study of
life. All life expresses itself in one way or another. The painter
gives life to the canvass by his magic touch; the poet expresses his
thoughts in cold metallic type; but the reader, the speaker, the orator,
expresses himself thru a living, breathing soul. The study of Expression
develops the body, mind, and spirit and enables us to go out into
the world to help our fellowmen to get a greater vision of life and
its possibilities.
