DOMESTIC ART
113.-This course deals with the fundamental of plain and machine
sewing, the operation and care of the machine and attachment.
It deals with the use of commercial patterns. The students plan and
make under garments, and a simple dress. Lecture and recitation
one hour, laboratory six hours per week.
123.-A continuation of course 113.
133.-A continuation of course 123.
213.-This course establishes the fundamental principles of dressmaking
and gives practice in the drafting of patterns, cutting, fitting,
and making of garments, and in purchasing of appropriate material
to be used in practical problems. One hour per week, lecture, and six
hours laboratory.
223.-A continuation of course 213.
232.-A continuation of course 223.
243.-This course includes a study of the history and development
of textiles; a study of the different fibers and their manufacture; and
a study of fabrics and their economic use.
DOMESTIC SCIENCE
113.-This course includes the study of the production, manufacture,
composition, and nutritive value of foods; the classification into
food principles; the changes in processes of digestion; the effect of
heat on food; the preparation, cooking, and appropriate serving of
food. Lecture and recitation, one hour a week; laboratory, four hours
a week. Credit, three units. Parallel or prerequisite, chemistry.

213.-This course includes a general review of the theory and
processes of cooking; the study of recipes as to types; the principles
and practice of canning and preserving; jelly and pickle making.
Further work in the cost and nutritive value of foods, the planning
of menus to meet physiological needs; Ithe cooking and serving of
meals. Lecture and recitation, one hour per week; laboratory, four
hours.
