introductions as to author, date, purpose, and teaching are given
for all the books. The historical situation is considered generally
and locally as well as from the way persons or doctrines are
involved. Few references are made to commentaries, but articles
in Bible encyclopediae will be referred to occasionally. Following
letters giving his teaching and work as related to Acts, there
will be a similar study in the pastorals and the general letters.
Last comes the apocalypse, which will be studied for all we may
get from it in the light of previous studies. No feature is made
of any one theory of interpretation.
NOTE.-Additional and special courses in the Bible Department
are offered for those who are preparing to do the work
of elders, deacons, teachers, evangelists, or missionaries. See
College of the Bible.
II. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.
1. GENERAL COURSES:
115.-Educational Psychology.
A study of the fundamentals of psychology as applied to
teaching.
125.Methods and Management.
This is a general course in the organization, direction, control
and teaching of any kind of school. These principles set
forth are applicable in a general way to any type of school teaching.
Class Room Organization and Control by J. B. Sears, and
School Room Efficiency by Bennett will be used as texts.
132.-Observation and Practice Teaching.
This is an elementary course in observation and practice
intended especially for those first year students who expect to be
in college only one year and who expect to teach next year. The
course will be made up of class room discussions, lectures, class
reports, observation of demonstration teaching, and practice
teaching. Education 143 should accompany this course. The
Observation of Teaching by Maxwell will be used as a text. Prerequisites
Education 125 and 115.
143.-Special Methods for Rural and Other Elementary
Schools.
