ABILENE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE

peculiarities are noticed in the Apochalypse, Matthew and others
by a few references. Required parallel is Romans and I and II
Corinthians. Three hours a week; fall term. Credit: Three hours.
Bw.-Advanced study of Grammar and textual criticism.
Robertson's great text is used. Souter is read on the Canon and
Text of the New Testament. Some library reading is required
from Westcott and Westfield. Students learn to use Novum Testamentum
Graece by Tischendorf. Thus independent work is called
from the student. Students acquire ability to select and compare
readings so as to get the best. A number of important passages
are studied. Required parallel work is the Minor Epistles. Three
hours a week.
Bs.-The spring term is given to Romans or to II Corinthians.
Sandy and Headlam will be used in the study of Romans; Plummer,
in the study of II Corinthians. Outlines and exegetical notes
are required. This quarter calls for full use of the latest scientific
equipment. Themes and sermon outlines are suggested.
Tasks for men of ability and daring will be suggested in the field
of New Testament studies. Parallel required is the General Epistles
and any other part of the New Testament left unread. Three
hours a week.
BIBLICAL INTRODUCTION.
BIBLICAL GEOGRAPHY AND TOPOGRAPHY.
A.-In the main the purpose of the course is to make the
Scripture narrative more intelligible and real. It shows how
geography affected character, life, and religion. The best texts
are used with charts, maps, and references. We hope to supplement
the class work with occasional stereoptical and stereoscopical
views. Three hours a week.
B.-Biblical Antiquities. The course considers the laws, life,
customs, and institutions of peoples mentioned in the Bible, especially
Israel and Palestine world in the time of Christ. Light is
thrown on many otherwise obscure passages, and no small help is
gained to the correct interpretation and appreciation of the Bible.
Three hours a week.
C.-A study of "How we got our Bible." Smith's book by this
title is read. Special assignments are made on the several phases
of the subject. Attention is given to the sources of the various98
