habits and control. Special attention to insects harmful and
beneficial to man. Three hours recitation. Four hours laboratory
and field work. Texts: Sanderson and Jackson, Elementary
Entomology; Herrick, Insects Injurious to the Household.
No prerequisite, but a knowledge of Zoology recommended.225.-Contagious Diseases and Sanitation. Lectures and
recitations on promotion of health and prevention of diseases
from the individual and community standpoint. Reinforcing
vitality and normal resistance; infection, immunity, recovery,
and disinfectants practically discussed. Library and laboratory
assignments.
313.-General Physiology. A general study of the human
mechanism, including physiological experiments and laboratory
work in manual dissection. No prerequisite, but a knowledge
of Freshmen Zoology recommended. Text: Martin's
Human Body (Advanced). Two hours recitation, three hours
laboratory and one hour library work. Not credited until
after 323 is taken.
323.-General Physiology. Work in the study of nerves
and tissues; also in chemistry of food and digestion. Detailed
study of organs. Two hours recitation and three hours laboratory
work. Library assignments. 313 prerequisite.
335.--Vertebrate Embryology. A study of the development
of the frog and the chick. Brief study of mammal by
comparison. Text: Reese, Introduction to Vertebrate Embryolgy.
Three hours recitation and four hours laboratory. Prerequisite,
Zoology 113, 123, 133.
345.-Heredity. A study of the Mendelian Laws and
their application in both plants and animals. Some time will
be devoted to a consideration of the various phases of the
theories of Evolution and the objections to each. Special
study of inheritance in man. Library assignments, including
study of the Kallikak, Juke, Edwards, Zero, and other families.
