forms, structure, functions, variations, development,
reproduction, life history, life problems and general principles
of the invertebrate phyla. Not credited unless course 133 is

133.-General Zoology. A general consideration of the vertebrate
forms. Classroom study of the functions, history and adaptations
of this group of animals. Laboratory study of frog, bird,
mammal, etc. Two hours lecture-recitation. Four hours laboratory.

145.-Elementary Botany. A study of the most important
facts regarding the structure of cells, tissues, tissue systems and
physiological processes. Also a general survey of the different
groups of the plant kingdom. Laboratory work in algae, fungi,
mosses, ferns, seed plants and herbs. Three hours recitation and
four hours laboratory. Text: Densmore's General Botany.
155.-Economic Botany. A study of the principal crop, fibre,
and medical plants. Some time will be devoted to the study of
weeds and parasites and to field work in food plants and grasses.

215.-Entomology. A study of insects, their anatomy habits
and control. Special attention to insects harmful and beneficial
to man. Three hours recitation. Four hours laboratory and
field work. Texts: Sanderson and Jackson, Elementary Entomology;
Herrick, Insects Injurious to the Household. No prerequisite,
but a knowledge of Zoology recommended.
225.-Contagious Diseases and Sanitation. Lectures and recitations
on promotion of health and prevention of diseases from
the individual and community standpoint. Reinforcing vitality
and normal resistance; infection, immunity, recovery, and disinfectants
practically discussed. Library and laboratory assignments.71
