GENERAL INFORMATION
In addition to skill and ability, each student who gets an A and
is entitled to membership in the A Club must be of high moral
standing. A failure to live up to these ideals in after life forfeits
the membership and the individual will be required to return
his letter. One of the great honors of the school is membership
in this club.
THE W CLUB.
The "Worthy Women" is a sister organization to the A Club.
For several years the girls of A. C. C. felt the need of an organization
of this kind; but no definite steps were taken until the
session of 1919-20. Mrs. Sewell chose several girls as the nucleus
of the club. The purpose of the organization is to developideal
college women. The motto of the club is, "A worthy
woman who can find, for her price is far above rubies?" (Prov.
31:10.)
Membership is conferred upon those who are considered by
the club as approaching the model women pictured by King
Solomon in this chapter.
THE PRESS CLUB.
During the session of 1919-20 the students taking an active
interest in the college publications organized the Press Club of
A. C. C.. Membership consists of those who have demonstrated
ability and interest in collegiate journalism by their activities
on one or more of the college publications. The staff of The
Optimist is elected from its members.
PHILO-ZELLNER LITERARY SOCIETY.
The society is composed of both boys and girls. It was organized
at the beginning of the 1913-'14 session, and has done
excellent work during the succeeding years. The programs are
varied and offer an excellent opportunity to those who avail
themselves of the opportunities. During the session of 1919-20
the society became a member of the Philo Federation of Texas.
JAS. A. HARDING LITERARY SOCIETY.
The society was organized at the beginning of the 1913-'14
session, and is composed of both boys and girls. The excellency
of this society is shown by the honors it has won. The Society
became affiliated with the Erisophian-Ophelian federation of
societies during the session of 1920-21.21
