LETTER FROM THE
EDITORAs you are aware, your Summer issue of Texas Heritage
has not reached your mailbox. Due to uncontrollable
production delays, we decided to combine the Summer
and Fall issues to bring you an expanded, more in-depth
issue containing all the regular features as well as several
new ones.
Beginning with this issue you will regularly see our book
review and profile column. We hope this column will
assist you in keeping up to date on current and upcoming
Texana books published around the State.
In addition, we have begun a series of "How-to" articles
such as the one you will find on page 8 of this issue
entitled Preserving our Photographic Collections. We continue, of course, to bring you feature articles on
Texas heritage and preservation activities as well as news
of upcoming events from around the State.
For those of you who have been receiving Texas Heritage
for the past year, I'm sure you have observed the
evolution of the magazine. We will continue to grow,
giving our membership and reading audience quality information,
serving as a vehicle for each of you to share
stories and news with Texans statewide.
With the development of the Texas Historical Foundation
newsletter, The Cornerstone, we will concentrate on
keeping you informed on Foundation news and membership
information. Texas Heritage magazine's primary
focus will be on Texas heritage, culture and preservation
activities. We welcome your comments, suggestions, and contributions.
(Production schedules and deadlines are listed
page 2) Each of you reflects what Texas is today: a proud
state with an invaluable heritage to preserve and share.
This is your magazine-use it as a resource, a tool, a
voice. We look forward to hearing from you.
Have a nice Thanksgiving holiday.Tanya Fain
