the cooperation of the Texas Historical Foundation, is using this issue
of Heritage to launch a national journal devoted to issues in historic
preservation. If there is a favorable response to this effort, the Center
for Historic Resources will consider publication of a historic
preservation journal on a regular basis. Please address your comments

Contributions are invited from the many fields involved in
preservation activities, including, but not limited to, architecture,
history, folk studies, economics, landscape architecture, cultural
geography, law, archaeology, and American studies. To encourage
investigation, criticism and new interpretive stances, we seek articles
that are analytical, rather than unexamined case studies or descriptive
pieces. The following is a suggested list of acceptable topics, but it is not
exhaustive: land use issues; the legal, economic, technological and
political consequences of preservation; preservation education;
protection of intangible cultural resources; preservation of the common
and the vernacular; localization of preservation; legislation; and
preservation funding.
Authors are asked to submit two copies of manuscripts directly to
the Guest Editor. Manuscripts should be double-spaced and prepared
either on a typewriter or word processor. Endnotes, rather than
footnotes, are preferred. Provide one set of camera-ready photographs
and line drawings. Submit captions, including credits, on a separate
sheet. Photographs should be black-and-white glossies, preferably 8 x
10 inches. The second copy of the manuscript should not be identified
by the author's name; xerox copies of illustrations are acceptable for the
second copy. -STAFF
