AN ACT,
Establishing an Regency in the city of Mlobile.
SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the senate and house of representative.
of the republic of Texas in congress assembled, That from and after
the passage of this act, that there shall be, and is hereby established,
an agency in the city of Mobile, in the state of Alabama,
United States of America.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That David White, of the
city of Mobile, is hereby made the agent of the government of
Texas. The said agent be and is hereby fully authorized to dis.
pose of land scrip, at not less than fifty cents per acre; the proceeds
of which shall be applied exclusively to the benefit of this
government.
SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That the president of this
republic be, and is hereby required to deliver over to the said
agent, scrip to the amount of one hunired thousand dollars, in
due form; and the said agent shall be responsible to this government
for the nett proceeds of the sale of all scrip whi.,h he may
receive; and it sh1ll be iis duty to report monthly to the president
of this republic, all his transactions in any manner touching
his agency.
SEC. 4. Be itfurther enacted, That the said agent shall receive,
as a compensation fori his services, five per cent. on all
monies received, and disbursements two and one half per cent.
SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That if, in the opinion of
the president of this republic, our commissioners should succeed
in making a negotiation, or negotiations to a sufficient amount
of money to defray the expenditures of this government, then,
and in that case, the president of this republic is authorized and
required forthwith to stop the sale of said scrip by said agents
