Chapter 133 H.B. No. 3287
1 AN ACT
2 relating to license renewals by the Texas Department of Licensing
3 and Regulation.
4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
5 SECTION 1. Sections 51.401(c) and (d), Occupations Code,
6 are amended to read as follows:
7 (c) A person whose license has been expired for more than 90
8 days but less than 18 months [en yea*] may renew the license by
9 paying to the department a renewal fee that is equal to two times
10 the normally required renewal fee. On approval by the executive
11 director, a person whose license has been expired for at least 18
12 months but less than three years may renew the license by paying to
13 the department a renewal fee equal to two times the normally
14 required renewal fee.
15 (d) Except as provided by Subsection (c), a [A] person whose
16 license has been expired for 18 months [oe-.ea] or more may not
17 renew the license. The person may obtain a new license by complying
18 with the requirements and procedures, including the examination
19 requirements, for obtaining an original license.
20 SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to
21 an application for the renewal of a license that is filed with the
22 Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on or after the
23 effective date of this Act. An application for the renewal of a
24 license that is filed before the effective date of this Act is
