As Seen by The Seniors
One bright morning in September a band of sturdy Freshies started in search of the
Land of Promise, or better known as a little knowledge.
After many starts and alarms we wandered into what we thought was a large
knowledge box, but was nothing but the Crazy Hotel lobby. After going farther on
our search, we discovered what we thought was paradise, but was only the surrounding
grounds of our High School, which was literally covered with small green objects which
we later found out to be Freshmen.
We kept steadily on climbing to become upper classmen. All the while some of our
members were dropping out as victims of matrimony.
Now came the time for our band of unfortunates to visit the long period of suffer-
ing of the underworld, Hades. Many of our band, such as John Doss and Frank Payne,
have long been wondering what they would do when they escape from this place.
By and by we became Juniors and then we got the name of Dudes. While we were
here we visited the burning furnace which was kept lighted by the dignified Seniors.
Glad we were when we got a chance to leave these regions.
As we approached the steps leading out we beheld Jewel James doing the latest
dance while Rusty Hazlewood played on a comb.
When we took the honorable seats as Seniors we divided in an attempt to civilize
the Freshmen and treat them the best of any class. The poor Fish are too green to
burn, and our Sophs who are so dry that if you thought of a match they would imme-
diately begin to go up in flames. We also show our mercy on the poor "Dudish" Juniors,
who are so important in their own estimation.
We have shown ourselves to be real Seniors and true sports in every respect.

MINERAL WELLS WINS MANY FIRSTS
Monday morning was a time of rejoicing. All the contestants in the County meets,
both literary and track, were summoned to the stage and asked to tell of these meets.
The track team was very fortunate. A loving cup and medals were brought back.
Lloyd Bouldin, John Tom Griffin, Cash, Carter, Cornelius, Cooksey and Geter seemed to
be the heroes.
The contesting teams were the American Legion, Graham High, and Mineral Wells
High. Mineral Wells won fifty-three points to her opponents twenty-seven.
Mr. Bock told us about the baseball game. The game started with Webb in the
pitcher's box and Red Porter behind the bat. At the end of the sixth inning the score
stood four to one in favor of Graham, and Brewster went into the box at the beginning
of the seventh inning. In the ninth the score stood six to six. By that time it had be-
come so dark the players could not see and the umpire called the game. The tie is to be
played off here on Saturday.
In the literary meet at Mingus, Thelma Carnahan and Bob Yeager won first places
in declamation. Blanche Horn and Alice Hill won first in the girl's debate. Homer
Bouldin and Everett Grindstaff lost in the boy's debate, but they took their defeat as
good losers should, and we are proud of them. Mildred Cunningham won first place in
the essay writing. Lee Ella Costello, our contestant in the Senior spelling, and Roose-
velt Willhite, our contestant in Junior spelling, do not know how they came out, but
we are confident that when they do hear, the news will be good.
The Junior girls' basket ball team won the County championship by defeating
Santo twenty-eight to eight. Burton Parker won first in the goal throwing contests,
making four goals out of six.
