Died Two Months Ago.
A letter from Mexioo to Dr. D.
N. Rankin, continue the inform-
ation ihat his father. Dr. J. D.
Rankin d<ed in Cordova ou Jan-
uary 24th of di^betis and tuber-
culosis. This was a sad, if not a
tragic ending to an eventful life.
Ihera was no man in this section
that had a more extended ac-
quaintance than Dr. Rankin.
Always a man of strongly pro-
nounced views upon all public
questions, he often contributed
articles to the daily papers which
were extensively read and com-
mented upon. The memorable
campaign he made against Sen-
ator Mills for congress in the old
9th district, in which ho ctlme
very near being successful, will
never be forgotten by the pecple
in that district. lie possessed a
brilliant mind, and a massive
intellect that enabled him to
grasp questions at a glance, and
but for the lack of practical aD-
plication, his success would have
oeen marked. Dr. Rankin pce-
s3sscd many charming charac-
teristics that drew around him a
large circle of friends. He was
charitable to a fault, so much so
that he suffeied in purse by rea-
son of his benefactions. In re-
cent 3 ears business reverses fol-
lowed in rapid succession, leav-
ing him in his o'd age without the
accumulation^' for which he labor-
ed so earnestly 111 Iiis early days.
Undaunted by his extreme age,
the Lion heart that pulsated in
his bosom prompted him to go
to a new country to retreive his
lost fortunes, but too hue. A mong
strangers, and in a foreign land,
he who had served bis country
with his skill in time of war, oc-
cupied with distinguished honor,
a chair in the Medical University
of this state, and afterwards de-
voted his skill 10 the relief of suf-
fering humanity, with no gentle
hand tw -moothe his wrinkled
brow nor friendly eye to shed a
sympathetic tear, his soui wing-
ed its tlight to h:s maker,
and may we not hope and believe
that his troubled spirit has f^und^
sweet rest and repose upon the'
other shore.—Groesbcck .Jour

'' For nearly seven years I was afflict-
ed with skin disease wliieh caused
an almost unbearable itching. I could
neither work, rest or sleep in peace,
Nothing gave me permanent relief un-
til I tried Hunt's Cure. One application
relieved me; one box cured me, and al-
though a year has passed, I have stayed
cured. I am grateful beyond expression.
Hunt's Cure is a guaranteed cure for
all itching diseases cf the skin. Price
