"Th. patent exhibit at the Texas
State Fair Instituted thrt. yuan ago
has given a wonderful stimulus to
the Inventors of Texuo und the
Southwest and some of the moat
valuable Inventions that have passed
through the United States Patent
Office have been granted to Texns
Inventors. The Inventions from Tex-
as are not confined to agricultural
Implements and small devices as
might bo supposed by somo but are
distributed over practically every
known field Including telegraphic
and electrical devices as well as pro-
cesses to be tiued In tho manufac-
tories. They have alpo made com-
pounds and chemical preparations
that have become of general useful-
ness. "I hope to see Toxas strongly rep-
resented at the coming convention
in Rochester and I hope that many
Texas models will be Included In the
exhibit. This exh..H!on will not
only be ol vaet advantage to In-
ventors lut iv 111 prove processes to
be used by manufactories and cap-
italists. It la an honorable method
of bringing the Inventors and man-
ufacturers together and I am pleas-
ed to give It my hearty support. It
Is proposed to appoint a committee
for bringing this matter to the at-
tention of the Inventors of Texas
In order that they may avail them-
selves of the advantage of making
a display and practical demonstra-
tion of their Inventions. .
"Although I have been appointed
special commissioner for Texas atd
the Southwest my associate and the
associate commissioner John S. Mur-
ray will have immediate charge of
tho matter and will go to Rocliestor
to look after the exhibit and nee that
ths Interests of Texas Inventors are
properly cared for."
The Rochester Union and Adver-
tiser recently printed the following
relative to the patent exhibit here
during the last State Fair:
"Recently a great exhibit of pat-
ents was held In Dallas which
