"I came back hero tho other day
for ths purpose of closing up the
leases on our storo building for a
term of years not less than five and
not mpro . than ten years. I came
prepared to sign a lease at a fair
prlco because the Famous store has
been so long In business In our pres-
ent quarters. I regret to say that
the rentals asked by tlie owners of
the. building have made It Impossible
for me to close with them at a fig-
ure that would be just to our bust
DOSS.
"I am now and always have been
for a greater Amarlllo and will
cneerruiiy do my pan in any way
that I can to lend assistance to tho
growth of the city. But a censerva
tlve business poller makes it im
possible for us to par a higher rental
than we have offered for our present
quarters. '
"You may say this however that
the Famous will continue In business
in Amarlllo. We have grown up
with the town and we propose stay
ing with It Our plans for the future
are Indefinite at present but you may
leoi assured that there will be a Fa

Is as good an Amarlllo as there ll
today we are with It."
