Port Arthur Suffers First Loss of Year
PASADENA. SEPTEMBER 27. 1963
Riding on the crest of a two-game winning streak and the number one rating in the state, the Port Arthur Yellow
Jackets were railroaded by a fired-up Pasadena team, 7-6.
The Jackets dominated the ground game while Pasadena took full charge of the air.
The lone Jacket score came on a 14-yard dash by Walter Sorgee. Charles Wilson was stopped short on the con-
version attempt, and this proved to be the deciding factor in the game. Pasadena's tally came in the fourth quarter
following a razzle-dazzle play that put them on the Jacket 26-yard line. From there quarterback Ricky Barret rolled
out to his left and for a moment looked like he might be tackled for a loss, but he kept his feet and shot straight up
the middle for the score. The Eagle defense then stymied all Jacket attempts for a second score.NORMAN MOREAU
