PETITION IN SUPPORT OF CIVIL ACTION H-77-999:
LITIGATION TO LEGALIZE THE PRACTICE OF ACUPUNCTURE BY
DOCTORS OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE IN THE STATE
OF TEXAS.
I believe that acupuncture and those things that
comprise it, such as herbal medicine, constitute a sig-
nificant and important part of Oriental culture. I
hereby further believe that people of Oriental origin
constitute a significant portion of the population of
Harris County and the State of Texas and thus I find
current Texas law regulating the practice of acupunc-
ture, flagrant, capricious, ill-founded and unwarranted
discrimination against basic tenets of the Oriental
culture. I know there to be properly trained doctors
of Oriental Medicine who could administer acupuncture
in our community, and State, and I desire changes in
the anti-competitive stance against acupuncture con-
summated by current State law.
