Drum MajorKAREN LOUPE - Drum Major
Under the leadership of Miss Dorthy Day, sponsor, and Karen Loupe, drum
major, the Red Hussar Drum and Bugle Corps completed their thirty-
seventh season. Pleasing fans during halftime activities, the Hussars per-
formed close-drill maneuvers in a dizzying array of excellence. New songs
served an important part in a thrilling season of football and half-time
shows.
Practicing many hours to put on a thrilling show in red and white marching
precision, the Corps is a crowd-pleaser. Practice begins in August and con-
tinues throughout the football season. One of their customs during the past
year was providing football players with refreshments every Friday morn-
ing during the season. Other special events included marching in the
CavOilcade, Christmas, and Neches River Festival parades.
The most glamorous occasion of the year is the Hussar Ball, held in Decem-
ber. Other important dates include the induction and installation of new
