Retiring Teachers
Mr. Hobart W. Ward, administrative assistant, retired at
the close of the term with a record of 45 years of teach-
ing. Mr. Ward observed that the use of many visual aids
in teaching is one of the notable changes he has seen
take place since he began work in a small East Texas
school.
k Mr. Ward's field is mathematics, and he taught in junior
r - high grades before coming to high school as a teacher.
For a number of years, Mr. Ward was head of the Math-
ematics Department. He has seen the curriculum make
many changes. In the pre-Sputnik days, little mathematics
was required. Now courses include advanced placement
studies.
Mr. Ward has served the past three years as administra-
tive assistant to the principal and has worked out many
MR. HOBART W. WARD statistical reports.
G. JONES Mr. Ward is a graduate of North Texas State and Pea-
body College. He has a life membership in Parent-
Teachers Association, and he is a member of Texas State
Teachers Association.
These three teachers have been helpful to thousands of
young people and to their fellow teachers. We salute
k ,them and wish them well.
