Result of Cooperative Effort
"OBSERVING STUDENTS mature into successful
and happy citizens" was Principal Charles
McBee's reply to the question, "What is the most
rewarding part of teaching?"' Mr. McBee began
his career with the Port Arthur schools as a phys-
ics instructor. He advanced through various
promotions to become principal of Thomas Jef-
ferson High School three years ago.
His complete interest in young people is evi-
denced in the zeal with which he proceeds
through each day's problems. Mr. McBee sel-
dom misses a game or a dance, in addition to
putting in extra hours of conferences during
evenings and on weekends.
Mr. Russell and Mr. McBee work as a team in
administering the affairs of this large school.
Mr. Russell is especially adept at counseling
young people.
