By Those Who Opposej'tfye Use of Locks) and Their
Reasons for Their Faith and the Denial of
the Unwarranted Imputation That

The
/
Advocates of the use of
Locks insist on their right, to te|l
the public why wo dou't want
Locks <>ii i he doors of the homes
and the business houses. They
say that we don't protect the
homes and business houses, but
tho truth is we are out eveuy
night trying every door—to see
if it i-i safe We want it known
to the public that we are their
friends therefore we ask you to
read what we have to say on the
evils of the use of Locks.
We believe that as a handmaid
of safety, Locks are a miserable
failure. They cause men who
broke into h< u-es before in day-
light, to sneak around in the dark
and in the back doors. This is
al| caused by the violation of per-
sonal rights, which is vouched
safe to every citizen.
Below we quote some expres-
sions from some of the most dis-
tinguished statesmen of the world.
Next we will publish the opinions
of home of the most eminent de-
vines and leligious editors in
America. It is a well known fact
that we can alwayB, and do, con-
su't this class with reference to
our position. Respecttully,
JESSE JAMES,

THE FOUY OF THE USE OF LOCKS.
What Eminent Men Say.
thomas jefferson.
Jeffers n is allright. He says
that no man has tile right to
build a Powder Works ill the
midst of a town. True, he has a
right to manufacture Powder, but
he must not endanger the people
of the town. (But Jeffersuti did
not say anything about locks,
so we will dismiss the witness,
lie will do us harm.
abraham lincoln.
Locus are a great injury to the
cause of safety. For you thus
force a thief to stop stealing, and
you can't force morality into a
man I have always been found
protecting the weaker against the
strong, and it is well known
that the Lock breakers are the
weaker Until my tongue shall
be silenced in death "I shall con-
tinue to fight for the rights of
men."
senator coal, of*texas.
The people who advocate the
use of Locks assume that Anti-
Lock people are unoapable of self
control. They put locks on the
doors so they can not be entered.
Their theory is at war with the
theory of government. They are'
striking at the root of freedom in
denying the power of self control,
upon which good government de-
pends, (and wo heard, that, last
week, in Mineola, a man was
placed in jail and a lock put on
the door. " Shade of liberty
what hath our town come to ?"
sam huston.
The evils of stealing can never
be stopped until natural laws
shall cease, as long as men
and women can have gold and
diamonds they will be stolen.
And not to allow a man to take
all he wants is in direct violation
of Christs command. "Give to
him that askoth, ar.d do not ex-
pect in retufn " It is well known
that we always carry tho Now Tes-
tament with us, and thus can tell
just what Jesus said about our
conduct of self sacrifice.
THE EFFECTS OF LOCKS
AND GENERAL SAFETY.
What It Has Done and What People
Say About It.
We, the citizens of Armarilla
can Say, after observing tho ef-
fect of Locks, that the best thing
we can do is to take them olF and
license certain men to steal. We
believe that there are more rob-
beries committed since the Locks
have been used. Jimmies aud
