Texas Dance Halls
If You're Dancing, They're Not Dying
The first Texas dance halls were built by immigrants from Central
Europe during the mid 1800s to early 1900s as places to celebrate
the cultural heritage of their home countries. Today, visitors to
these now historic dance halls come to enjoy what Steve Dean,
co-founder of Texas Dance Hall Preservation, describes as "a true
Texas experience." By Pamela Murtha
