Presid'n! Weto EI' r F, Duin
On behalf of the
faculty,
administration, and
staff, I am
delighted to
welcome you to
McMurryUniversity. Whether you are
returning to campus as an
upperclassman or coming for the
first time, I believe you will find an
exciting and demanding community
environment, one that is interested in
helping you formulate and realize
goals that will serve you for a
lifetime.
Last year we celebrated the 75h
anniversary of McMurry's founding
during which time we examined our
traditions and explored new
directions that will take the
University into the 21st century. We
celebrated with alumni, a few of
whom were here on the day the
institution opened in 1923. Alumni
are full of wonderful stories about
their campus experiences, ones that
played critical roles in the
formulation of their latter personal
and professional lives. Furthermore,
we involved current students in
planning for McMurry's future. This
is your university, and we want you
to take full advantage of the
opportunities here, ones that will
challenge you intellectually, socially,
spiritually and physically. We want
you to have opportunities and
experiences that will be life
changing.iu Z7
The McMurry faculty and staff are
dedicated and talented; they are here
to serve as teachers and mentors. I
also believe they are marvelous role-
models. They are passionately
committed to their academic
disciplines and hope to instill in you
that same passion. They have high
expectations for you, and I am
confident you will meet them. Be
prepared for every class; read
beyond the assignment; take full
advantage of the latest technology;
participate in extra-curricular
activities; and demand more of
yourself than you ever felt possible.
You will get out of a McMurry
education what you personally
invest. Given the experiences of our
alumni, I think you will find it is the
best investment you will make in
your life.
I wish you a great year. I hope you
can point back to the 1999/2000
academic year and say with pride,
this is the year that transformed my
life, and prepared me to become the
leader I am in my profession, my
community, and my church.
