Dear Mr. Gonzalez:
I was recently talking to Jacob I. **odriguez, the
publisher of Lulac Mews and I understand thst you were once
active in a Lulac council in your city.
I have been in Lulac about sixteen years and have
always wanted to go to Wichita Fall* and meet with you there.
I have been national president since June of this year and I
have had +:he good fortune to organize at least eight new
councils in El Paso, Port Arthur, ^barton, Seguin and
Smeltertown, Texas also in Deming and Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Sunday, January 11th. I hope to reorganize the City of Victoria,
Texas. I also plan to be in Fort Worth and ialias in about
two weeks to organize a Lulac Council in Fort Worth and possi-
bly reorganize the Dallas council which was very active.
During the six: months of my administration I have noticed
an upsurge of enthusiasm for Lulac, due to the fact that
the Latin American population in Texas is growing by leaps
and bounds as a matter of fact three times faster then the
Angelo American and a great need for leadership among our
people is being felt. Lulac now in its 2*fth year is answer-
ing that eall for leadership. I hope that you take it upon
yourself a^d those among your friends that remember Lulac
to invite me to your fair city in the Rear future so that I
can talk to you all about reorganizing Lulac in Fort Worth.
We now have the greatest membership in the history of the
League and with your help, I am sure we can make it greater.
Hoping to meetwith you soon, 1 am
Fraternally yours,
John J. Herrera
National President of Lulac
